Forrest Recruitment Manchester donate to Manchester Central Foodbank

Lucy, the Branch Administrator in Manchester, recently went down to Manchester Central Foodbank to give a £500 donation on behalf of Forrest Recruitment Ltd to help with their amazing work. The Trussell Trust has seeded hundreds of Foodbanks run by volunteers all over the country to help the 13 million people who live below the poverty line in the UK. Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK.

When Lucy was there she was inspired to see a number of families and individuals be helped by this fantastic charity, easing one of their financial worries, now knowing they can at least eat that week. Foodbank referrals have increased by 8.5 times what they were in 2011/2012 to over 1 million and almost one third of these referrals are for children. When we hear that parents around the country going hungry in order to feed their children we can understand how important the work of these foodbanks are. That’s why we are proud to be supporting their crucial work.

The Manchester Central Foodbank has recently launched their new warehouse appeal as they hope to build a larger and purpose built warehouse to carry out their work more efficiently and cost effectively. They need to be able to store a large amount of food and want to start being able to accepting toiletries.
