Charity Donation

Each year our Chairwoman issues each of our branches a charitable donation in which we get to select charities close to our hearts to donate to. This year we have chosen St Catherine’s Hospice in Preston & Wigan & Leigh Hospice.

St Catherine’s Hospice is a local charity which is here to help people in the community affected by serious illness enjoy quality of life and have dignity in death. They were built by the community, for the community and could not survive without their on-going support in raising a huge £3.5m of their annual £5.2m running costs each year. Their specialised, personalised services for adults facing conditions such as cancer, heart failure and motor neurone disease are delivered at the hospice, in the community and at home.

Wigan and Leigh Hospice is a charity which provides care and support to people who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness which is no longer curable. Their staff are highly skilled in palliative and end of life care and are committed to providing the best care possible for our patients. They support the ‘whole needs’ of their individual patients including their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. Support is also provided by the Hospice for those people who are most important to their patients. Their care extends to patients with any life-limiting illness including – but not limited to – cancer, respiratory and heart conditions and neurological conditions.

It was an absolute pleasure to visit both of these companies and see what they do and the outstanding services they both provide.
